Arrowsmith CPR Regional Trail

mnt2

The Canadian Pacifi c Railway originally developed this historical trail route in 1912 to provide their Cameron Lake resort guests with access to a network of alpine trails around Mount Cokely and Mount Arrowsmith. Today, the Arrowsmith CPR Regional Trail, the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District’s Mount Arrowsmith Regional Park and the RDN’s new Mount Arrowsmith Massif Regional Park provide a range of accesses to the spectacular world of Vancouver Island’s most popular alpine area. Use the Arrowsmith CPR Trail to explore the northern slopes of Mount Cokely. The trail winds steadily uphill from Cameron Lake through private forest lands and fi nishes at the old ski hill in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District park. The loop trail is about 10 km in length with a total elevation gain of about 1000 metres and a great lookout about half way up. It’s high country so be prepared: pack water and warm clothing, and wear sturdy boots.
